Day 7 - 4/4/24

Today started out with us returning to Huevos Fritos for breakfast. The general plan for today was to stay around the East Coast so we could be back in time to get Lechonera for dinner.

Anika Rating: 8.5/10 it was a good amount of food to start off the day with.
During breakfast we planned to drive to the northeast corner of the island where it seemed there were a bunch of nice looking beaches, specifically one called Piscina Grande (Big Fish) caught our eye. It was essentially a big tide pool that you could swim in. It was about an hour drive to get up there.

We passed by a giant marina on our way and also stopped at a gas station where Clover found a candy they hadn't seen before and wanted to try. Clover said it was like a marshmallow but I recognized the taste exactly, I just can't place it, it was almost pineapple-y.
Shortly after we ended up at a dead end, 'No Trespassing' the gate taunted. I checked the reviews for the place and they said there was a beach nearby that you could access and it was a 30 minute hike from there. So we headed to Seven Seas Beach, it seemed like a pretty popular public beach, it even had a drink vendor.
When we walked to the end of the beach we found the start of a sandy trail that we guessed was our quarry. It took us through a few different areas, one was a rocky-sandy area, one was a swampy area full of tiny cypress legs, one was a tunnel made of vines, and the last was a more light tunnel of trees. There was also another beach we had to cross in the middle of the trail.

And we didn't end up at Piscina Grande at the end, one of the paths leading off of ours must have been the right one. None of the paths were marked and the website I had been using didn't have good directions to the spot but we'd come this far. There was a shelf on the beach that kept some of the fish from the reef further out closer to shore.

While Clover and I were in the water Dad sat on the shore where apparently a ton of lizards ran past him including a weird blue one. Lizards had been everywhere this week but we'd never seen a blue one before.

We ended up swimming for a few hours after that and by then we had to rush back to get Lechonera.
(We could see the rain on El Yunké from the road)

By the time we got to the place Dad was wanting to go, it was closed. It seems like Lechonera is more of a lunch thing, but we weren't done yet. We drove to the place we ate earlier in the week, Lechonera los Amigos, and luckily they were open!

Anika Rating: 10/10
It was more good than I could eat but it was really good and also really cheap for what we were getting out of it.

After going home and showering we went out to Jendy's Ice Cream again and this time I knew better than to get the Tamarind and Ginger so I sampled the flavor I wanted first and got a Passion Fruit Sherbet which was really awesome!
Anika Rating: 10/10

So that was our day!
Tomorrow is our last full day here and we fly out Saturday evening. So, as always, thank you for reading.
